MAJURO, MARSHALL ISLANDS – The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sitiveni Naivota as the new Audit Manager for the Financial/Compliance Audit Division. Mr. Naivota brings 13 years of combined experience in financial auditing, financial analysis, and performance evaluation across the public and private sectors in New Zealand and Fiji.
Mr. Naivota holds a professional Chartered Accountant (CA) designation alongside postgraduate and bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance. Prior to joining the OAG, he gained significant private sector experience as an In-Charge Auditor at a global mid-tier firm in Auckland, where he led audit teams across the for-profit, non-profit, education, and SME sectors. His extensive public sector background includes key roles at the Office of the Auditor General in Fiji, where he managed audit teams and directed major audits for various government ministries, departments, and public enterprises.

In his new managerial role, Mr. Naivota will focus on maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the core auditing function, ensuring all operations strictly adhere to the Constitution of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Audit Act, and all relevant laws. The Financial/Compliance Audit Division serves as a vital financial watchdog, assessing financial statements to ensure they present a true and fair view, thereby promoting good governance and accountability within the government structure.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Naivota is eager to leverage his regional connections with the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) to champion innovative approaches at the OAG, including piloting a shift toward a paperless audit system to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
